Romy Sidhu

Professor Romy “La Fuego” is a proud mother, wife, and grandmother whose passion lies in helping others discover their inner strength. A Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and an International Jiu Jitsu Referee, she brings nearly a decade of experience to both the mats and the classroom. As an instructor at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, she blends academic insight with real-world discipline, teaching self-defense and the art of Jiu Jitsu to students from all walks of life.

With a strong background in competition, Professor Romy now focuses her energy on teaching and mentorship. She has spent over eight years coaching children and is especially committed to supporting survivors of abuse through empowering self-defense instruction. Her outreach efforts have positively impacted hundreds of women across the country, and she continues to use Jiu Jitsu as a powerful tool for transformation, healing, and personal growth.
